Best in Show: Elliotts on Linden
Moore County has always had a fair selection of higher end culinary tastes, and the “phone eats first” social media trends of recent years have only contributed to advancing our status as a foodie’s paradise. On the vanguard of all this has been Mark Elliott. If he didn’t write the book on inventive cuisine in Moore County, he’s at least got a few chapters. So it’s no surprise that Elliott and his family of dining businesses were named Best in Show for 2023.
Elliott has been a massive presence on our local food scene since opening Elliotts on Linden in 2000. Today, his ventures include the flagship restaurant in Pinehurst, Elliotts Provisions next door, The Sly Fox Gastropub in Southern Pines and The Roast Office coffee shop in Pinehurst, in addition to a catering company.
Since getting into the business as a teenager in Torquay, England, Mark Elliott has continued to push the menu and local taste forward while staying loyal to locally grown and sourced foods. He approaches everything with a fair bit of humor and flourish, and has assembled a talented, hardworking team that help make everything happen.
This year, Elliott’s companies are taking home eight Best of the Pines awards, including the top spots for best caterer, wine menu, coffee shop and chef, a category he has won three consecutive years.
